Since opening in late November 2024, Sharp Society has quickly become part of the Memphis barbering community. In October 2025, the shop was recognized by the Memphis Flyer, earning a tied third-place ranking for Best Barber Shop alongside several long-established and well-known brands across the city.
How Sharp Society Came to Be
Sharp Society didn’t begin as a full barbershop. It began with a passion for the craft and a commitment to doing things the right way.
What started as a small space and a few loyal clients slowly grew into something bigger. Over time, friendships turned into regulars, and the values that define Sharp Society today began to take shape: respect, consistency, and pride in every cut.
In late November 2024, that vision became reality with the opening of Sharp Society Barber Shop in Memphis.
Less than a year later, the shop was recognized by the Memphis Flyer, earning a tied third-place ranking for Best Barbershop in Memphis alongside long-established names across the city. For a young shop, that recognition wasn’t about awards—it was confirmation that dedication to the craft and respect for clients still matters.
Today, Sharp Society continues to grow, built on the same principles that started it all: precision, professionalism, and a community built around the chair.
From a Small Shed to Founder of Sharp Society
Henry’s journey into barbering didn’t begin inside a shop. It started in a small shed behind his home.
With the support of family and friends, that space was slowly renovated piece by piece. Damaged walls were repaired, air conditioning was installed, and a simple shed became the place where Henry began learning the craft. At first, he cut hair for family members, friends, and classmates willing to sit in his chair. The early cuts were often free, but what mattered most was the confidence people gained and the realization that barbering could become something meaningful.
Wanting to develop his skills further, Henry later attended barber college and continued sharpening his craft. After completing his training, he was given the opportunity to work at JKPalinLLC Memphis Barbershop, where he gained experience working with a larger number of clients and a wider range of styles. Even then, he continued cutting hair in the shed while steadily building his own client base.
As that client base grew, so did the vision.
In late November 2024, that vision became reality with the opening of Sharp Society Barber Shop in Memphis. Today, the shop reflects that entire journey — humble beginnings, steady growth, and a barbershop built with purpose from the ground up.
