At Sharp Society, we take pride in more than delivering great cuts; we take pride in how we treat every client. Respect, communication, and attention to detail are at the core of everything we do. Each barber takes the time to understand your style, explain what works for you, and make sure you leave confident in your look, not just satisfied with the service.
After opening in late November 2024, Sharp Society quickly made its mark in the Memphis barbering community. In October 2025, the shop was recognized by the Memphis Flyer, earning a tied third-place ranking for Best Barber Shop, standing alongside long-established and well-known brands across the city.
How We Came to Be Who We Are
Sharp Society didn’t start as a shop, it started with a pair of clippers and a passion.
Our founder, Henry, began cutting hair back in high school. What started as a simple hobby quickly turned into something deeper: a love for the craft and the confidence it gave people. Working out of a small shed, long before the name Sharp Society ever existed, Henry spent years sharpening his skills one cut at a time.
That small space became the foundation for something bigger. Friends became clients, clients became regulars, and the standards that define Sharp Society today were formed early: respect, consistency, and pride in the work. Along the way, that same passion inspired others to take the craft seriously and start their own journey in barbering.
In late November 2024, that vision finally took shape with the opening of Sharp Society Barbershop.
Less than a year later, Sharp Society was recognized by the Memphis Flyer, earning a tied third-place ranking for Best Barbershop in Memphis, standing alongside long-established shops across the city. For a young shop, that recognition wasn’t about awards; it was about confirmation that doing things the right way still matters.
From a small shed to a full barbershop, Sharp Society was built with purpose, and the story continues with the people behind the chair.

Henry’s journey into barbering didn’t start in a shop — it started in a small shed behind his home.
With help from family and close friends, that shed was renovated piece by piece. Damaged walls were replaced, air conditioning was installed, and a simple space slowly became a place where something meaningful could grow. It wasn’t fancy, but it was built with support, trust, and belief from the people closest to him.
Henry began by cutting the hair of family members, close friends, and even schoolmates who were willing to sit in his chair. At first, the cuts were free. Over time, small payments followed. What mattered most wasn’t the money — it was the confidence, the conversations, and the realization that this could become something real.
Wanting to sharpen his craft even further, Henry went on to attend barber college. After completing his training, he was given the opportunity to work at JKPalinLLC Memphis Barbershop, where he gained experience with a higher volume of clients and a wider range of styles. Even then, he continued cutting hair out of the shed, steadily building his own client base.
As that client base grew, so did the vision.
After renovating an old hair salon and preparing for the shop’s opening, Sharp Society officially launched in late November 2024. It was at this point — following the grand opening — that the Sharp Society website and official social media accounts were introduced. Building on an already small but loyal following from Henry’s personal account, the shop grew organically through consistency, word of mouth, and simple, intentional promotion.
With limited tools but a clear direction, Sharp Society continued to grow — rooted in community, effort, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Today, Sharp Society reflects that entire journey: humble beginnings, steady growth, and a space built with purpose from the ground up.
